Safe Ministry at Holy Trinity
We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of children at Holy Trinity. As part of that commitment, our ministry staff; all of our leaders in children’s and youth ministry; as well as parish councillors and wardens, must have a Working with Children Check and current Safe Ministry Training.
Our Process
Part 1: Working with Children Check (every 5 years)
Obtain a WWCC through Service NSW and send your number to our office along with your date of birth (which is essential for us to verify your number). The Working with Children Check (WWCC) is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW. It involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of reportable workplace misconduct. The application is free for volunteers.
Part 2: Safe Ministry Training (every 3 years)
Safe Ministry training is part of the Diocesan Safe Ministry to Children Ordinance 2020. It requires that all clergy and church workers (paid or volunteers) undertaking ministry to children and youth, complete Safe Ministry training every three years. This training is also beneficial for those involved in ministry to other vulnerable people.
Ask the office for a free access code for Safe Ministry training. If you need a quick response, cc: Zac or Jono as our office is manned part-time.
Once you have the free access code, complete the online safe ministry training. Note: The Quick Access codes have to be entered in the form on your 'My Course Dashboard' page (when logged in) NOT in the Checkout.
The safe ministry training takes a few hours and then there is a webinar at the end. It can take several weeks until a webinar becomes available. This means you should start your training ASAP. (From time to time there is in person training available - contact the office for more information).
When you complete your training, you will be emailed a certificate. Please forward that to the office.
Familiarise yourself with our church safe ministry policy.
Part 3: Safe Ministry Check (once-off)
After you complete your safe ministry training, you will need to complete the Safe Ministry Check with Zac our Senior Minister. You will be sent information about that separately.
